A locket, a source of tremendous power, has been jealously guarded in the vaults of a secret agency, whose existence is only known to a privileged few. Now someone has stolen the locket, and humanity is in danger. Only Agent Burgh and his team have what it takes to track down and retrieve the locket. But they are not the only ones going after it. The clock is ticking and with every passing moment, the danger grows stronger.
The Locket by Michelle Konde has strong elements for readers looking for conspiracy tales - a powerful, relentless cult, a weapon that can destroy humanity, and mysteries linked to the past are just a few that are delicately woven into the plot. It is fast-paced and features stellar writing. The key characters are solidly developed and Michelle Konde’s rendering of the minor characters is equally impressive, presenting a cast that readers will root for. The entire story turned out to be hugely imaginative and filled with unexpected twists. At the heart of The Locket is a game of power, symbolized by the missing locket and a dangerous cult. The prose is captivating and flawless, while the characters are realistically portrayed. The tension builds up steadily as the story progresses toward the exciting climax. This book is hard to put down.
