Donna Huston Murray’s cozy mystery series features an amateur sleuth much like herself, a DIY headmaster's wife with a troubling interest in crime. The latest Gin Barnes’ FOR BETTER OR WORSE was a Finalist for the 2019 National Indie Excellence Award, mystery category, and both novels in her new mystery/crime series won Honorable Mention in genre fiction from Writer’s Digest.
In real life Donna assumes she can fix anything until proven wrong, calls trash-picking recycling, and although she should probably know better by now, adores Irish setters.

The Main Line Is Murder by Donna Murray is the first book in the Ginger Barnes Main Line Mysteries series. Ginger’s husband has been given a new job – head of Bryn Derwyn, a struggling academy. Ginger volunteers her time to help out where she can but then murder at the school hits the front page. Ginger decides to get involved in the investigation to move things along and get the school back out of the limelight but will she uncover the murderer? Can she save their home and her husband’s job or is her interference putting everybody around her in danger?

The Main Line is Murder by Donna Murray was a good read with a decent plot and some action. The main protagonist is well developed and you will either like her or you will find her intensely irritating! It is an interesting story and the rest of the characters were developed equally as well. The plot is good and moves at a steady pace. There are some twists and turns in it, and, overall, it was an enjoyable read. I would imagine it is quite hard to find new angles for a tried and tested genre but this book is a little different from many others. The story is strong and I believe that readers will become invested in the characters as the series progresses. A good start to the Ginger Barnes Main Line Mysteries series and recommended for those who want an easy, quirky murder mystery to while away a few hours.
