A young mouse has an experience of a lifetime as he ventures out into the meadow he calls home to explore and learn. Come join the little mouse on his adventure and find out just what there is to see in the grass, on the leaves, and in the brush and thorns, as well as discover what animals and insects live within them all. The Mouse and The Meadow, by Chad Wallace, is an exciting and educational children's book which introduces young readers to many different animals, insects and scenery belonging to nature’s meadows. Young readers will learn about a spider’s beautiful but deceiving web, the pollination process of a bee, a caterpillar’s metamorphosis upon the meadow’s milk weed plant, the camouflage of a turtle's shell, the light of a fire fly, a nurturing and safe mother rabbit, the predatory nature of a snake, weasel, and night owl, and the friendship of another mouse. Children are often very curious and eager to explore the world around them. They also are attracted to animals. The author piques the interest of most young readers by depicting the main character of the story as a mouse, and by creating an adventurous story plot.

Readers can enjoy brightly colored illustrations as they learn about nature through the eyes of a small and cute young mouse. The author does a wonderful job creating a book that is both fun and educational. After one has read the story, the author offers a review section of the different animals and insects, as well as different activities children can do by themselves, with their family and friends, or even in a classroom with their teachers and schoolmates. I loved this book. It has a lot to offer children, but also teachers and parents, knowing their children and students will not only be having fun reading, but also gathering and retaining a lot of useful, educational information.
