Despite the past stigma of being a stay-at-home-dad, economics has changed the faces of who is pushing the stroller at the park. Despite the number of men who take on this roll, societal opinion still cannot come to terms with the concept. After all, isn't that supposed to be a woman's role? "The Myth of Mr. Mom" debunks that line of thinking by letting a small handful of men put it out there, in everyday life, and their telling it like it really is. Poignant, sad, funny, raw . . . the story of course depends on the person. The openness of the authors and their willingness to present the facts and experiences remove the tarnish of being Mr. Mom and show it for what it is -- a wonderful treasure that others could only be so lucky to enjoy.

I have a friend who is in this exact position. After reading this book, I immediately sent him a message that he MUST go get this and not to delay! The context of these stories will benefit any man - - or woman - - who does not feel that they are doing anything positive in their lives as a stay home parent. The little moments that are shared caused me to pause, think, reminisce and be happy that I was the one at home with my own child as she grew through her childhood. Sometimes it takes a couple of people to step up and remind others what really matters, regardless of what society thinks.
