The Necklace of Goddess Athena: A New Adult supernatural mystery by Effrosyni Moschoudi is a fascinating story of time travel. Ksenia and her twelve-year-old brother, Manos, lost their parents eleven years ago. Phevos lives in ancient Athens with his sister, Daphne, and eleven years ago his mother had disappeared. One day Phevos and Daphne's father places Athena's necklace around his neck and he and his sister are caught in a vortex and spin away. Disoriented, they are dropped into a different location and era. Following the barking of their dog, Ksenia and Manos discover the two travelers in their orchard. Although Phevos is stunned from the fall, he manages to explain that he and his sister Daphne were traveling and had gotten lost. Uncharacteristically, Ksenia accepts this and gives them a place to stay. When they discover that they have their parents' disappearances in common, together the young people begin searching through time and find help from an unexpected source. Will they be able to reunite their families, even though time and place separate them?

The Necklace of Goddess Athena: A New Adult Supernatural Mystery by Effrosyni Moschoudi is an intriguing fantasy epic similar to the Percy Jackson books. It is an excellent time-travel story, blending mythology and the present together. At first, I was slightly surprised at how Athena was portrayed. However, as the story progresses she becomes the goddess that I believed her to be. Also, I was impressed with how the author combined the two eras. I thought the way that Phevos' father introduced him and Daphne to present day living was clever. Because of their prior lessons, they didn't really have trouble adjusting to another time period. This book is a stunning masterpiece. Although this isn't the normal genre that I read, I have to say that it is so well-written that I couldn't put it down. It is a memorable story and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read and review it. This is an amazing New Adult mystery that I highly recommend to those who have a penchant for time-travel.

"Sometimes, all you need to do is think back to the fairy tales of your childhood in order to be reminded what is most important in life and what is really true."

This book is amazing! I was transported backwards and forwards in time. I was entertained using the whole set of emotions. I got lost in the story. I felt like I was there. I could hardly wait to see what might happen next; however, at the same time, I wanted it to never end!

I love Mythology. My favorite book of all is The Odyssey of Homer. This book gets shelved when I can get a paper copy, right next to my Odyssey, and I can hardly wait to share it! If you read anything, read this book soon!

I couldn't put the book down as there were so many layers of the story to appreciate! It is the story of Phevos and Daphne, arriving in Athens over 2,000 years into the future... It is the story of an angry, jealous goddess Athena and her wrath released on poor unsuspecting mortals... It is the story of a woman who loved two orphans as her own... It is the story of love... and... there is a mystery to be solved as well!

I enjoyed the story as it was different! All of the elements I had mentioned above are woven into a wonderful story that had me hating to see its end! As Phevos and his father believed there are no coincidences, things happen for a reason if you are aware of all the signs! Even when tragedy strikes, we are reminded there is something to come from it if we are open to it...

Ms Moschoudi paints a very vivid Athens in two different times: ancient Greece and modern Greece. She also has very vivid, lively characters with whom it is easy to love them and care about what happens to them! She also shows us how the gods and goddesses of mythology were viewed then and today. Again, she has a story than has all the elements to make you fall in love with it! I was so engrossed in the book that I read way past my bedtime as there was never a good place to stop! Just one more chapter...!

I very much enjoyed this book, and I would strongly recommend this book to anyone who likes stories that have a little bit of everything and a whole lot of heart! I would definitely love to read more from this author!

This is a lovely story and contains quite a bit of mystery. What I like the most about the novel is that it took me to places I have wanted to visit all my life. The scenes were set so they provided a rich backdrop to the characters and their adventures. I could feel the sea and hear the murmur of the waves in the dark of night. The blaze of color that is seen in sunsets of Greece. Athens came alive for me as I read and enjoyed this exciting story.

What a great read! It is a good long story and is well worth the read. I was able to submerge myself into this Greek world in the past and present. I found it to be interesting and it kept my attention the whole way through. The Necklace of Goddess Athens takes you on a journey of love, mystery, mythology, danger and so much more. Author Effrosyni Moschoudi is an amazing writer. She created a unique story that flowed seamlessly. I was able to discover the mysteries along with the characters. There was not too much giving away too early in the book. It kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. I feel that the charters falling in love was so heart touching. It was written in such a pure and meaningful way. Then, Oh My, I just loved the ending! What a perfect way to end such an amazing story. I don’t know if there is another book planned, but it seems to be complete and wrapped up nicely.

When I hear about time travel, I immediately think of science fiction, not urban fantasy. More Doctor Who than The Vampire Diaries, so to speak. But Ms. Moschoudi managed to weave in mythology and modern themes effortlessly, when she sends Greek gods to the 21st century Greece, making us see our world through their eyes.
The gods (who are children) get sent here for reasons unknown and befriend two orphans who help them adapt to the modern world. They are characters you immediately get to like. Depending on your age, you will either want to befriend them or protect them with all your might.
This is also a battle between good and evil, how certain events could alter every timeline, the past and the present. It was written lyrically, with deep meanings and a lot of heart. I felt transported to Greece as I read, and I know that this is a story I will never forget!

A skillful blend of fascinating mythology, history, and modern reality!

I breathlessly followed this amazing story, page after page… It took me to magical places and reminded me of known facts while at the same time introduced me to new ones.

Being a native Athenian, I thoroughly enjoyed “seen” my hometown under a new light – a masterful intermingling of today’s modern city with its rich historical and mythological background.

I was glued to the pages by the author’s vivid descriptions and her beautiful, almost poetic way of writing. This book had it all: adventure, excitement, suspense, mystery, fantasy and of course, romance. I laughed, and I cried, as the story of Phevos, Ksenia, Daphne, and Manos unfolded before my eyes. The novel was also enriched by a cast of very interesting characters, especially their parents and Mrs. Sofia.

I enjoyed immensely this breath of fresh air in the time travel fantasy genre.

Highly recommended!

Brilliant book with unusual plot. Be sure you read it when you visit Greece, especially Athens, and especially if you want to sort of the myths of Greece, Gods and Goddesses!
