The Pirate Who Was Scared of Birds by Michelle Path is a fun children's book about a pirate named Crackskull Jack. Everyone across the seas was terrified of him, and he was the most feared pirate of them all. But he had a secret: he had a fear of birds. Only his crew knew, and they would often laugh at him behind his back. One day, Jack decided that he had had enough. He was a pirate, and he can't be scared of birds and laughed at by his crew. They drop anchor and go ashore to meet a woman named Penny Darkling. Jack promises her a lot of money, on the condition that she cure him of his fear. Will Penny cure him of his fear, or will Jack live his life scared of birds.

I really enjoyed reading The Pirate Who Was Scared of Birds by Michelle Path. The book is very well written and descriptive. The book has some funny parts, as well as scenes full of suspense. The characters are very likeable, because Jack is able to face his fear, and Penny helps him. I liked the font the story is written in, because it seems to match the theme of the book. The pictures by Callum Graham are very well drawn and help to depict each scene. The pictures of Henry the parrot are adorable and the pictures are very colourful. Parents will enjoy reading this book to their child, and children will want to read it again and again. I would definitely recommend this book to all young readers.
