The Plot To Save America: A Novel is a work of fiction in the political thriller subgenre. It is suitable for the general adult reading audience and was penned by Avraham Azrieli. The book is set in an alternate reality where the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was significantly more destructive and, as a consequence, the US now operates under martial law. The plot follows a Death Penalty Investigator who is looking into the life of Detective Stuart Tenison who is facing the death penalty for domestic terrorism, but the more the investigator looks into the evidence the deeper he finds himself in a dangerous conspiracy.

A political mystery set in a reality disconcertingly close to our own is a fantastic premise for a thriller, so this book immediately starts strongly. The narrative that follows is an outstanding and nuanced investigation into a social and political nightmare that potentially we only avoided by the skin of our teeth. Avraham Azrieli doesn’t waste an ounce of the potential that the premise holds, telling a vivid and dynamic tale about a determined investigator who must use all of his skills to burn away the lies, mistruths, and obfuscations until left with the truth. The investigation is a rollercoaster of twists and turns as each step toward the solution seems to prompt even more obstacles to appear. The commentary about our world that is made throughout The Plot To Save America is white-hot and will leave readers with plenty of food for thought.

Following an eventful presidential election in the year 2020 which culminated in allegations of election rigging, an attack on the Capitol building in Washington D.C, losses of thousands of lives, incarceration of some, constitutional changes, and a lot more, the Trump administration resumed office in this fictional account in The Plot to Save America. What more would anyone want than the success of a cause they have wholeheartedly supported. Probably not being put on death row by the same people they fought with for the same cause, which was the former Chief Inspector Stuart Tenison’s current situation. How did one of the staunchest supporters of the Trump administration end up on death row? The death penalty investigator who has been assigned Stuart Tenison’s case is determined to get to the bottom of it all, which leads him on a journey to uncovering dark secrets and making discoveries about the politics of the United States. Enthusiasts of political thrillers featuring investigative and conspiracy themes will love Avraham Azrieli’s The Plot to Save America. There is suspense, tension, thrills, adventure, and action in the book. Azrieli’s style of writing had me hooked and flipping from page to page. His choice of words gives the book a professional touch. He varies his narration by switching between scenes while digging through the past, present, and future. Azrieli captures wit, sarcasm, irony, and much more in the conversations, which left me in stitches. The characters were wonderfully developed and exciting and I loved how he uses dialogue to exhibit their complex traits. Azrieli depicts his scenes and characters with impressive vividness, which adds color and spices up the reading experience. He employs just enough sentiment in his words, making me feel the sombreness, resentment, rage, and other feelings of his characters. This is a great piece of work.

The Plot to Save America: A Novel by Avraham Azrieli is fiction at its finest. A great speculative writer will always look at a major event and ask questions about what might have been. This is exactly what this book does. What if the insurrection on Jan 6th, 2021 had been successful? It is three and a half years on from that infamous day and America is now a MAGA paradise. Illegal immigrants and even those who had previously been granted permission to stay were being rounded up and shipped back to the countries they came from. When martial law was declared, a plethora of Presidential decrees would send the future direction of America into a white, Anglo-Saxon paradise where immigrants would be chosen first and foremost on their ethnicity and their potential contribution to white society. The appeals system for the death penalty had been scrapped and replaced by a Death Penalty Investigator who would investigate the case and decide if the death penalty was warranted, with execution immediate upon his report. When Death Penalty Investigator #1645 is instructed to investigate the death sentence imposed on former Chief Inspector Stuart Tenison for passing secret documents to a foreign spy, he uncovers a conspiracy of such monumental proportions that it threatens to undermine everything that the new MAGA America stands for and believes in.

The Plot to Save America is a timely reminder of what could have happened on January 6th, 2021, when Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building. Avraham Azrieli has created a chillingly realistic scenario. I loved that the author was able to take such a seminal event in American history and create an alternative outcome. The background characters are real and provide credibility to the entire tale. I particularly enjoyed the inner conflict experienced by the Death Inspector as the terrible truth of what happened that day began to dawn on him and he realized everything he had done since that day was underpinned by a lie of monumental proportions. The author’s descriptions of the uniforms, the decals, the total adoration for a strongman leader, and the clampdown on liberal thought and freedoms were so chillingly reminiscent of Nazi Germany’s rise to power in the 1930s that one could hardly fail to make a comparison with the current political situation in America. The brutality of the camps set up to ship immigrants back to their own country and the proud ascension of “white supremacy” is so chillingly recognizable today. If speculative fiction is partly designed to awaken a populace to potential threats in its current society, then this book does that job admirably and yet still tells a fascinatingly human story of one man’s determination and doggedness to discover the truth. I can highly recommend this read.

If you’re not a Trump fan, you might be both fascinated and horrified by The Plot to Save America, a political thriller by Avraham Azrieli. The fascination comes from Azrieli’s ability to weave into an engrossing story all the unsavory aspects of Trump’s presidency, including his almost besotted followers, graspingly loyal minions, the conspiracy theorists, the religious zealots and especially those who believe the election was stolen. The horror you might experience comes from the fictional possibilities of what could have happened if Trump had gained a second 4-year term as President. Azrieli has Trump immediately signing decrees that would bury the existing religious, social, and political laws and destroy the constitution. Marriages would confine women to being wives and homemakers only. Abortion and same-sex unions would be punishable by imprisonment. All persons, regardless of social status, would be identified by letters worn on their clothing, reminiscent of Nazi Germany. Immigrants, even those previously granted permanent residency, would be sent back to their countries of origin. White supremacy would rule and, of course, those to whom Trump would award high-paying, controlling positions and lavish privileges would be those loyal to him, even known pedophiles!

The possibilities are nauseating, and Azrieli skillfully explores them through a clever plot that sees the protagonist, a Death Penalty investigator, discovering an unexpected cover-up. As the investigator interviews everyone from coroners to wives, Azrieli gives readers an insight into how private citizens and public servants would be affected by the new order of things in MAGA America. Characters come to life during the exchanges of information and emotions. What the investigator learns changes his former pro-Trump views and leaves readers shaking their heads. I closed The Plot to Save America thinking what a prescient, insightful author Avraham Azrieli is! Read his fascinating but horrifying novel. Only those who love Trump won’t enjoy it.

The Plot to Save America by Avraham Azrieli is a political thriller that gives an exaggerated, ominous look at what could happen if Donald Trump wins reelection. The story is narrated by Death Penalty Investigator #1645. The nightmare begins when a group of Black Lives Matter and Antifa terrorists storm the Capitol and cause a great fire and loss of lives. The president has declared a War on Domestic Terror, issuing a series of executive decrees criminalizing membership in insurrectionist organizations, as well as the spreading of fake news or disinformation by any means, aiding illegal immigrants or interfering with their deportation, performing (or having) abortions, and actively promoting socialism, globalism, homosexuality, and feminism. Investigators and law enforcers wear an SSS pin and act like the Gestapo. Penalty Investigator #1645 is involved with the investigation of Stuart Tenison, a Baltimore police detective convicted of domestic terrorism and sentenced to death.

As a political thriller, The Plot to Save America has a strong selling point. They say that one man can change history, and in this case, it takes the form of an orange pompadour whose policies you least expect to stretch in the most extreme, such as what is depicted in this novel. Avraham Azrieli gives you a structure that is easy to follow, and the plot will strike you as a cross between 1984 and Fahrenheit 451. It has good pacing with the dialogue helping to push the story forward. The Plot to Save America is a fascinating and thought-provoking read, one that lovers of thrillers and dystopian fiction will surely enjoy. It makes you realize the power of storytelling as an instrument for creating awareness; in this case, a tale that is cautionary to make us retrace our steps.
