The Reclamation: The School of Ancestral Guidance Saga Book 1 by Thorn Osgood is the story of Corilan Troxler. A girl who always knew that she was very different from the people around her. So she does the things that make her feel happy and satisfied about her life. True, her relationship with her father is not the best and she does not really fit in with other girls her age, but she knows there is one thing that she can always count on: the environment. She does everything and anything within her power to keep it healthy.

Nevertheless, when she starts having weird dreams, dreams about the end of the world, she knows that something is up, especially when she meets a person named Earthos. The Environment guardians need her help, and she needs to protect them and make sure that no harm comes to them. However, it is hard, especially when she is up against the likes of the rich and influential. The government and the industrialists don’t care about who they hurt, as long as they are making money, and that just makes her job much harder. Can she do it? Can she fight against people who are stronger and more powerful?

This socially awkward heroine just won my heart. She is simply amazing. I liked her; Corilan had a certain charm that you cannot ignore. She is strong, resilient, and very, very energetic. The story was fast paced, there wasn’t any unnecessary information, and it did not leave me wanting. I liked what I read and I liked the pictures created in my mind after reading it. The writer has a way with words that is unlike any other. Very well written.

The Reclamation by Thorn Osgood is Book One in The School of Ancestral Guidance Saga, an inspiring, realistic tale of the redemption of the earth that will be welcomed by both fans of fantasy and sci-fi. Corilan Troxler has not had any contact with her father for twenty years and, when he suddenly sends her a message informing her that he’d be there, she knows something is at stake. She’ll find out about her origins, a shocking discovery. All she ever wanted was to redeem the environment, make the world a healthy place to live, but a chance encounter with an unearthly being, Earthos, will transform her life and set her on a mission that could be as dangerous as it is adventurous. Will she succeed in fulfilling her destiny, to assume her mission with courage and credibility?

I was hooked from the beginning, completely drawn into the story. Thorn Osgood begins with a powerful description and points the reader’s attention to an impending environmental crisis without “telling.” The protagonist’s gear already suggests that something is at stake and introduces the reader to the conflict that is so richly developed throughout the story. The writing is beautiful, the dialogue dramatic, and the descriptions vivid. Readers will love the protagonist and they will love following her as she journeys from a loner to someone who is courageous and collaborative. The Reclamation has a lot that will draw the reader’s attention, including compelling characters, a gripping plot, and timely issues.

Corilan lives in a world in which even dogs need to wear protective clothing when they leave the house with their owners. Reclamation by Thorn Osgood shows a world that has gone too far, inhabited by people who blindly followed their political leaders, who are bought by powerful industries. People with alternative ideas are often found dead or discredited (it does remind you of our own reality a bit). Corilan is one of the few who care, and when her father suddenly turns up out of the blue after having left her as a child, things change a lot. Corilan learn about SAG, the school of ancestral guidance, and is visited by a being called Earthos, who wants to help her to save the planet – and annihilate all people who do not want to change their ways.

Reclamation by Thorn Osgood is a book that will make readers think about their own attitude towards the planet, and whether they should make some changes in their own lives. The bleak circumstances in Corilan's world aren't really that fictional. It can happen to our planet unless people realize that consuming so many unnecessary things in an increasingly destructive manner is not all right. Thorn Osgood's words might wake up one or the other reader, and readers who are already aware of what is happening to the planet will enjoy that someone has written such a lovely story about it. It is just a pity that beings like Earthos do not really exist.
