Sarcastic and witty, The Road to Hel: Book 1 of Sean's Saga by Eric Tanafon is a brilliant novel that people of all ages will enjoy. If you love magic and monsters and Norse mythology, you will love this novel. Sean is fourteen years old and he is living his life by conquering one video game at a time. That is, until he and his sister were attacked in their home by some monster, and taken away by Norse warriors go to a school where he, his sister and his best friends will learn to be warriors and protectors. That is, if they can survive the tests. All is well and good, until he finds out that his mother is in Hel because she was trying to rescue their father from a place that is much more horrible and dangerous than Hel. Sean, his sister and his friends are the only ones who can save her from that place and bring her back safely. Only, they have to fight monsters of all kinds and actually be the first ones who went to Hel and came back. Can they do it? Can they make the impossible possible?

WOW! Just Wow! Road to Hel is a brilliantly written, beautifully sarcastic and amazingly witty novel about a boy and his quest for greatness, only he has no idea about it. I loved Sean, his inner monologues were humorous and many times they made me laugh out loud. I also loved Arturo; he had a very, very interesting personality and I absolutely adored him. I cannot wait for the next novel in the series because this one is brilliant.
