The R.O.B.I.N. by PJ Dunn is an outstanding story packed with suspense and action. A scientist designs a special miniature device that can be remotely controlled to kill and to spy, among other interesting features. The device looks like the common household fly. It’s the kind of item that has the potential to trigger war. Many fight to get their hands on it, keep it in their possession, or destroy it. As the story unfolds, it is inevitable that there’s no such thing as loyalty and that people will do whatever it takes to get their hands on something that makes them feel powerful. Otherwise normal individuals quickly become criminals and murderers just to accomplish their goal, which is to gain absolute control of the world. The line that separates the good guys from the bad guys fades and trust is a risky luxury.

PJ Dunn is a great storyteller. This story has the right combination of treason, revenge, betrayal and every other quality that makes for a great suspense story. The language is easy to understand and flows effortlessly, even for a reader who might not be too familiar with intelligence terminology. It’s one of those books that surprises you right from the start. The plot twists and turns unpredictably and makes you want to keep turning the pages. The characters are believable and it’s easy to become so identified with each one of them that you feel able to read their thoughts and figure out their next moves.
