The Rx for Murder: A Vega & Middleton Novel penned by author Sue Hinkin is a work of fiction in the thriller, crime, and mystery subgenres. It is intended for the mature adult audience owing to some instances of strong language and scenes of sex and violence. After a long-serving reporter for the Los Angeles Daily is found murdered, the contents of his last mailing to Beatrice Middleton raise questions about his sudden death. Meanwhile, Bea and her photography colleague Lucy Vega are covering a story about a veteran going off his meds and onto a killing spree, but are the two events connected somehow? This thrilling novel unpicks a tapestry of intrigue, corruption, drugs, and death.

I always enjoy a good murder mystery, and this terrific novel delivers a complex plot with lots of other interesting genres woven in, including crime, medical, conspiracy, political thriller, and psychological elements, to name but a few. Author Sue Hinkin really triumphs in her character development, especially in the relationship between the central duo, Bea and Lucy, as they give everything they’ve got to battle corruption and bring justice to a very dark predicament indeed. The plot has plenty of fast-paced twists to keep readers interested but also pauses in just the right moments to deliver deeper details of the case and allow readers to reach their own conclusions without spoon-feeding them everything. Overall, this makes The Rx for Murder a satisfying read that fans of any kind of suspenseful thriller novel are sure to enjoy.
