The Skylight Fallout is a work of fiction in the science fiction and adventure subgenres, and it forms the second novel of the Skylight book series. It is intended for the young adult reading audience and was penned by author J. Wint. As this high-octane series rockets into the next part of the adventure, we rejoin our hero Jet as he faces yet more challenges as a part of the order of the Lucem. Spies and backstabbers await the order at every turn and, to make matters worse, Jet’s new nemesis Hanely Hurse has a ruthless plan to seize power over Jet and his new charge.

Author J. Wint has crafted a superb sequel that readers can jump right into, thanks to the seamless weaving of early plot points naturally into the storyline to help us catch up on the events of the series so far. The pacing of this novel is spot-on for the target audience, providing plenty of twists and some great moments of emotional realization and bonding between the younger cast members. I really enjoyed the clues laid for the overall mystery of the plot, which layered the work with suspense and kept me engrossed in the world, its lore, and the overall plot of the series as it deepened. The dialogue was also a particular highlight, especially Jet’s close narration and unique attitude because of the roles put upon him. Overall, The Skylight Fallout is a must-read for fans of the existing series, and I’d certainly recommend it to science fiction and fantasy enthusiasts everywhere.
