The Source: Origins is a work of adventurous retro-punk fiction penned by author A. J. Witt. In a medieval-styled world which is cast far into the future, there are those in the Dominion who can harness incredible energy from the Gods themselves. But as the Adepts and the Overseers wage a tense prelude to war, the city’s fate and future hang in the balance. As politics, war, society, and destiny all play their parts in leading the Dominion towards its darkest dawn, we follow an ensemble cast of different people caught amid the struggle. Some wield power already, and some will have power thrust upon them.

This tense science fiction and pseudo-medieval thriller builds from a slow-burning start into a truly fantastic, exciting and intelligent work of fiction. The backstory for the nature and history of the Dominion is well spread out amongst the plot revelations so as not to overwhelm readers from the start, and I enjoyed the various and distinct personalities of the cast members whom we meet along the way. Very much a plot-driven story with its overarching themes of mystery, violence and the struggle between social classes, the world is lavishly built and convincingly glued together by its author’s commitment to unique traditions, culture, and political structure. A. J. Witt has a talent for creating worlds which we step into and perhaps never want to leave, even when the going is tough. And it doesn’t get much tougher than The Source: Origins. A highly recommended read.

Life Full of Chapters

What a fun read! Really enjoyed the story line and the character development. It’s very well written. Loved some passages so much, I re-read them just to better savor the literary sophistication. Dialogues are fun and well-paced. Also made me LOL quite a few times. Finally a new series to be excited about. Highly recommended.
