Author Biography

Lee Ann Rubsam specializes in writing about prayer, Christian character and discipleship, and the prophetic gifts. Her materials are used by churches, home study groups, and home schooling families throughout the world.

One of Lee Ann’s primary interests is to encourage intercessors in their calling and to help them reach their highest level of effectiveness in prayer. With that goal in mind, in addition to her books, she and her husband Paul present practical, hands-on intercessor workshops at their home base in Appleton, Wisconsin, and elsewhere upon request. Many people today wonder if God still speaks. The problem is not that God does not speak but that people are not listening. Lee Ann Rubsam has given us another spiritual gem in The Spirit-Filled Guide to Personal Prophecy. One of the missing elements in many prophecies is discernment. What we hear needs to be vetted to ascertain whether it is really from the Lord. Lee Ann provides steps to make sure the word is authentic. One of the dangers of prophesying is the temptation to give dates. If you receive a message, test it, and use discernment. One of the most significant tests is whether the word aligns with the Bible. If it doesn’t, reject it. Another test has to do with edification. God’s words should edify. Make sure you do your part and then watch God do His.

One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit that He gives to the church is prophecy. Unfortunately, many in today’s churches believe the gift of prophecy is no longer operative. Lee Ann Rubsam strongly believes that prophecy is still available and should be practiced. Lee Ann suggests caution in prophesying. God does want to speak to each of us personally, but Satan is the great deceiver. Make sure the words you receive are from God. Does God’s Spirit agree with your spirit that the message is accurate and from God? If not, avoid it. If the prophecy brings confusion, run from it. It is not from God for He is not the author of confusion. Lee Ann puts modern-day prophecy into a proper context. I highly recommend The Spirit-Filled Guide to Personal Prophecy to anyone interested in the gift of prophecy.
