In The Story of Goldie: The Magical Christmas Elf we are introduced to a little elf who is excited for December to arrive. She believes that Christmas truly begins on the first day of the month. Immediately she gets out of bed and begins to decorate her house for her favorite season. Goldie doesn’t stop until her home was covered in holiday decor. She’s super happy because she knows the next twenty-four days are going to be filled with festivities and celebrations and presents. Goldie just knows this is going to be a great Christmas that’s even better than the last because the holiday isn’t just about getting gifts but part of the fun is buying gifts for your loved ones. Not quite sure what to do for her friends, Goldie decides to visit each one to get a better feel for what she should get them. Overwhelmed, Goldie feels less confident. How could her gifts even compare to what her friends are doing? Will she find the perfect gifts for her friends or will this Christmas be one not worthy of remembering.

I thought The Story of Goldie was such an adorable read. I love how the main character was written. Children will understand and love Goldie’s bubbly personality as she scrambled to find the perfect gifts for her friends. Also, the illustrations are amazingly done and fit perfectly with the storyline perfectly. They are bright and vibrant using colors that you really wouldn’t expect in a Christmas story but it just works. Courtney Hanks has done a wonderful job of creating a generous little elf that children will absolutely love.
