The Tail of Too Bad Mike by Iain Cameron Williams is a children’s book about a skateboarding shrew that was born without a tail. One day his fake tail goes missing and he goes on the hunt for it. Along the way, he encounters many of his friends who over time give him the nickname “Too Bad Mike.” Mike also comes across a few difficult situations that he has to find his way around. What happens to Mike? And will he find his tail?

The Tail of Too Bad Mike by Iain Cameron Williams is a humorous children’s book. As an adult reader, I was hooked on the storyline from the very first page, and that shows just how good a writer Williams is. Throughout the book, you are introduced to each of Mike’s friends, along with his grandad Gus. Each one of Mike’s friends has a unique personality that attracts you to the story even more. The Tail of Too Bad Mike is definitely in my top ten of children’s books that I have read. Not only is this book really fun to read, but it also teaches children about diversity. With each of Mike’s friends being a different animal, it shows that no matter what background you're from, you can be friends with anyone. This book is flawless and the characters are hilarious. Every page had me either laughing or smiling and I am going to be keeping this story for future reading. I can't recommend this book enough, it is such fun to read and both you and your children are going to love it. So what are you waiting for? Grab a copy of The Tail of Too Bad Mike and give it a read.

A very amusing story that had me laughing out loud. Williams' imagination is hugely entertaining and a joy to explore. So many unique characters in this story have left a lasting impression on me - Queen Beetrice, Grandfather Gus, the Pigeon Postie who has a memory like a sieve, and how can I not mention Wriggler the worm who spends most of his time in Mike's denim jacket pocket. The story will have you hooked, as you really do not have any clue where it is all leading. A very, very, clever book, brought together by Williams' knack of piecing all the pieces together. I look forward to the next story in the series.
