Todd Parr’s "The Thankful Book" encourages children to think of things to be thankful for every day. And he offers a list of things we can all be thankful for, just to get them started. Some are sweet: “I am thankful for my ears because they let me hear words like ‘I love you’”. Some are silly: “I am thankful for underwear because I like to wear it on my head”. Some are practical: “I am thankful for healthy food because it keeps me strong”. Some are thought provoking: “I am thankful for the library because it is filled with endless adventure”. Some are inspiring: “I am thankful for my hands because they help me give special gifts”. In general, all of them are worth being thankful for!

This bright, playful book is a great tool to get your children thinking about things to be thankful for. The illustrations are simple, quirky and colorful, and the message is very clear: we have very much to be thankful for! It would make a wonderful Thanksgiving Day gift. Each page can be used as a starting point for your children to list their own things to be thankful for. For instance, “I am thankful for the winter because I like to build snowmen,” can be followed by a whole other list of things to be thankful for in the winter. Parents will love how this book encourages communication! This is a book you and your children will want to pick up over and over again.
