The Tough Mama's Guide to Survival by Jenny Ahmed is a prepper guide intended to assist an underrepresented market in the survival and prepping community: women. Written by a woman for women, Ahmed takes her years of experience and expertise and delivers it to the world in a concise and comprehensive book that covers all topics, including how to compile a bug-out bag (several, in fact), obtaining and refurbishing an affordable safe house, planning a route to get to the safe house and allowing for contingencies along the way, stocking and shopping for food and supplies, and the nuclear, natural, and unfamiliar disasters that would require such a strategy to be put in place. Broken down into easy to read and understand chapters, Ahmed's book even offers advice on how she was able to collect an impressive, multi-million dollar portfolio of properties and supplies on a shoestring budget.

The Tough Mama's Guide to Survival by Jenny Ahmed is the first book of this type I've ever read. In fact, it's the first in the subject of disaster preparation that I've ever read, and it seriously opened my eyes to how unprepared my family would be in the event of a catastrophe. What I appreciated most about Ahmed's approach is how open she is about all the facets of her planning. She shares the most interesting and informative bits of information - particularly in the subject of accumulating land and property - and does so the same way a friend might. She's honest and forthright in her motivation without making a reader feel like they've failed for not being as prepared as she is. On the contrary, the wealth of knowledge she provides is enough to get even the most unaware reader (such as myself) want to start the ball rolling. I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a manual that will ensure you're ready to expect the unexpected, and to thrive if and when it hits.
