The Trickster Dreamer by S.C. Tzavella is a short supernatural novella. Shallowland is a magical world where a spirit photographer lives. Known as the Man in the Stovepipe Hat, William Mumler, along with Magiana, his wife, is trying hard to prove that ghosts do exist. More than that, they are also trying to prove that images of those ghosts can be captured beside relatives that are alive. Their journey is fraught with skepticism and then a spirit who doesn’t believe he is dead throws a spanner into the works by trying to expose them as frauds. A sensational trial follows for fraud and larceny and Mumler reveals a mystery, a truth that is as incredible as it is invisible.

The Trickster Dreamer: A Novella by S.C. Tzavella is an amazingly written piece of work. Deep, complex and with many layers, this is a timeless masterpiece, a tale of a man who was ridiculed but whose discoveries live on today. This is a surreal story, one that will require your full attention but it will reward you in many ways. Beautiful illustrations bring the story fully alive in your mind, transporting you back in time to the life of the man who invented spirit photography. The language flows like a meandering stream through a touching story with amazing characters, perfect for fans of the supernatural and those who want to delve deeper into spirit photography. This isn’t just a short supernatural tale; this is a journey that you will never forget, a trip to Shallowland that will make you view life in a whole new light with an ending that will send shivers down your spine.

A most unique work of art

The Trickster Dreamer is one of the most beautiful works I have read. A unique piece of art, written by S.C. Tzavella in an era that swept me away from the first pages. This novella lured me into reading on and on through its pages as the mysterious story unveiled itself. The character of the bold Magiana struggling along side her husband with all things that both life and death reveal is truly touching. An extraordinary way of expression by the author made my reading experience a sensational one. Being a fan of the supernatural, it was a delight to read about the beliefs of spirit photography and ghosts among the living back in time, as compared to today’s theories.
Finally, this written work is carefully accompanied by gorgeous art illustrations accommodating the story exceptionally well.
