Author Biography

Author Dawn Doig, M.Sc., M.Ed, is the author of 15 children’s picture books on a variety of topics including childhood hearing loss, bullying and forgiveness, dysgraphia, learning English as an additional language, and positive self-image. Some of her books are just plain silly and prone to giggles. She has been blessed with two extremely rewarding careers working with children as an audiologist and as an English as an additional language teacher in different parts of the world including way up north in the Canadian arctic, Kuwait, England, Saudi Arabia, Mongolia, and Cameroon. Dawn has two grown children who live in Canada. She currently resides in Cameroon with her hubby Bruce and two very rambunctious but adorable female kitties. She gets her inspiration for her children’s books from her family, the children she has the pleasure of working with, general life experiences, and her feline friends. Dawn is a passionate baker who loves to share her homemade goodies with others. She is always ready to head out on the next thrilling adventure with Bruce and they never know where the wind will blow them to next. All proceeds from Dawn’s books are currently being donated to help raise the funds to build a new school for the deaf/orphanage in Cameroon, Africa.

Colin saw a mouse in the cupboard and when he told his mommy, she asked him to catch it. Colin did not know how he should catch it and his mommy told him to catch it with the help of a cat. He then told his mommy that there was a cat in the window and his mommy told him to catch it with the help of a dog. Colin saw a dog in the basket and his mommy told him to catch it with an alligator. He saw an alligator in the toilet and his mommy asked him to get an elephant to help him catch the alligator. Colin told his mommy there was an elephant in the garage and his mommy asked him to catch it with the help of a mouse. Let's read the story to find out what happens next.

There's A Mouse in the Cupboard: A Big Shoe Bears and Friends Book by Dawn Doig is a delightfully charming story that will take children on an entertaining ride along with introducing them to animals. The author's illustrations are as bright and jovial as the story and give the action a good pace and movement. Children will enjoy watching the animals going round and round trying to catch the mouse. It is a simple and fun story that will bring a smile to the faces of young readers. It is a fun story for bedtime and can also be used in classrooms for read-aloud and storytelling sessions. The book is bilingual, written in both English and French, and that helps it reach a wider audience.
