Through Fire and Rain: Surviving the Impossible with Love, Music, and Precision Medicine by MaryAnn Anselmo and Joseph Anselmo with Lisa Cerasoli is an uplifting story of a family that went through many highs and lows, yet pulled themselves together and back into the race of life. The book speaks about the unpredictability of our lives and how our world can unexpectedly turn upside down in a second. MaryAnn and Joseph take readers into their personal lives by sharing their trials and tribulations, their faith in God, and their art of never giving up in life. Their courage, strength, and determination to overcome cancer and other personal tragedies make them a model couple to many of us out there who are going through health issues and personal problems.

Getting brain cancer is like seeing your life coming to an end. The book not only speaks about the trauma MaryAnn and Joseph went through, but also their love and bonding as a couple. It is inspiring to see the way MaryAnn gets back to life and starts singing again. The book also provides information on precision medicine which is good for all cancer patients to be aware of while undergoing treatment. I like the way the book has been written; heartfelt, with passion, and giving hope to many cancer victims who are battling for their lives. This book will change the perspective of many readers when it comes to having faith and being strong while going through difficult times, and speaks about the power of music when it comes to coping with pain, fatigue, and depression. I also admire and appreciate the way MaryAnn and Joseph handled this phase of their lives, finding some good even during this trying time.
