Author Biography

Like her character Addy in Thrown for a Curve, Kit has a practically useless degree in marine biology. A teacher by profession and at heart, she loves to impart little-known facts and dares you to walk away from one of her "light-hearted" chick-lit books without learning at least one new thing. Kit's female leads are all intelligent, strong, and stand fine on their own... but then again, a Prince Charming waiting in the background is always appreciated. As long as he puts the toilet seat down.

Thrown for a Curve: Chick Lit That Makes You Think by Kit Sergeant is an easy and sometimes humorous read. Addy Enders has always had one dream – to marry a baseball player. But, when she does, it seems that just maybe she isn’t really cut out for the life after all. Going to star-studded evenings with her husband isn’t something that truly appeals to her – she would rather be watching Shark Week on TV. A graduate research student, she is supposed to be looking into the mating habits of sandbar sharks, but marriage to a famous player means she doesn’t have time for her own life. And things get worse when he is promoted to major league. Then she meets up with an old boyfriend and has to make a decision – does she stick by the vows she made or does she follow her heart?

Thrown for a Curve: Chick Lit That Makes You Think by Kit Sergeant is an easy read, a light romance with a sports flavour, with a dash of drama and a hint of humour to keep it balanced. This was a book I could read without getting a headache; it was easy to follow and light hearted, the ideal book for those who don’t want to have to think hard about where a story is going. And, I don’t mean that in a bad way. You shouldn’t need a degree in psychology or forensics to understand a story every time; sometimes this kind of book is just what you need to wind down with. The story was paced well with just the right amount of action and drama and some very well developed and likeable characters. Great story, and it would be nice to see a follow up at some point in the future.
