In Thunderstruck by Nicholas Forche, we meet John Holt, a retired military veteran who works at a children's shelter in Seattle. He carries the spirit of an angel, Amariel, inside him. Amy, as John calls her, is an angel of Virtue, and can work through John to touch others with her angelic touch and amplify the virtuous aspects in people. One morning, Maria, his boss, calls him to inform him that one of the children, Joey, has gone missing. This is an unusual occurrence at the shelter; it has never happened since John has been there. John sets about finding Joey and along the way meets Aislin Brockway. During his search for Joey, John encounters a strange death. Aislin tells John about her encounters with supernatural beings and he begins to see that there is more in the world than one can see. An interesting adventure develops.

In Thunderstruck, a short novella by Nicholas Forche, we venture into the world of the paranormal. The story is thought provoking and holds your interest throughout. Light humor runs subtly through the tale, especially when dealing with John and Amy. John and Amy share a beautiful bond, both humorous and serious, and work well together. John is an interesting character, with his past history as a military chaplain, and his current work at the children's shelter, and Amy is equally intriguing. This new take on the supernatural theme includes strange creatures, a paranormal huntress, and John's angelic being, all of which combine to ensure an eventful and intriguing adventure which will leave you wanting more. A delightful read.
