Time Management: How to Plan Your Week, Stay Productive and Motivated the Entire Time by Andy Smith mentions getting a calendar as step one of this process. Finding a space with no distractions and other important elements, namely activity recall and mind dumping are then introduced. Prioritizing one's activities can then lead one make a calendar. Sticking to one's plan and the other needs of being productive are then discussed. Avoiding distractions, multitasking, the necessity of breaks, and the importance of staying motivated are covered by the author. Competing with other people doing the same or a similar task will have the added benefit of inspiring one to stick to the time schedules and try to beat the competitor, which ultimately will be beneficial.

That enables one in selecting the areas needing greater attention in improving productivity, which can then be subjected to closer scrutiny or correction as needed. The author has taken a friendly approach and avoided jargon while putting across these lofty ideals. An introduction to the tools and techniques extant on these aspects would have been a great help, raising the usefulness of this discussion from the abstract to the practical. A good, introductory book in the broad area of self improvement.
