To Sleep: Book One of the To Sleep collection by T.L. Bishop is a lovely story of fairy tale fantasy. Aisling dreams of things hauntingly familiar and disturbingly comfortable. She knew the lady with the red hair, but had never met her. Every young girl fantasizes about being a princess in another life, but on Aisling’s birthday, she realizes the truth of that fantasy with the discovery of her birth mother, the queen of Sleep. When Aisling’s dream life begins to invade her waking hours, she wonders how long she can live a dual life, and how far she can push the boundaries of her waking time relationships. Aisling is the princess of Sleep and her kingdom is in danger. Will she be strong enough to keep her new found legacy safe? Will the land of Sleep be safe with her on the throne?

T.L. Bishop writes of a mythical place as if it truly exists in To Sleep. With a heavy concentration on Irish culture and heritage, Bishop’s story is the perfect explanation of that dreamland we all experience when told to go to sleep. With the idea of Irish legend as a powerful influence in our much loved fairy tales, Bishop’s world is easily relatable to readers of all ages. This is an area not yet explored by contemporary writers of fantasy, making it an intriguing genre for the current market, especially with the promise of a sequel. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Thank you, T.L. Bishop, for introducing us to the land of Sleep.
