Even Lovey's husband, Bill, paid the ultimate price ten years ago, and since then, Lovey's been planning to take Stargut down. Moreover, her best friend, Patty, is somehow under Stargut's influence. Luckily, Lovey isn't the only one who questions Stargut’s deeds and his gift of youth. Tom, the preacher is also interested in stopping Stargut from accomplishing his evil mission of creating the perfect man-beast. Will Lovey and Tom be able to defeat the sinister Stargut?

It’s easy to get lost in this dark and intriguing thriller. Tom and Lovey: Under The Moon Into The Wood by G R Jerry captivated me completely. This young adult fantasy novel comes with many engrossing scenes. It's a bit cynical and deeply disturbing at times. I really enjoyed the author’s voice, the excellent world-building, and the character development. The writing is rich and descriptive, and there's enough action and suspense to keep you turning the pages. G R Jerry did a magnificent job of capturing Stargut's dark nature and the peculiarity of the Village of Wrong and its mysterious inhabitants. I would definitely recommend Tom and Lovey to paranormal fantasy lovers for its unique twists, turns, and rich storyline.

Tom and Lovey by G. R. Jerry is an action-packed thriller following the two central characters’ quest to defeat evil forces. Set in the ‘Village of Wrong’, which surprisingly doesn’t exist on any maps, the story begins with a gut-wrenching description of a man called Tim being burnt alive by the town’s sheriff, Stargut, for the simple crime of hitting a muskrat with his car. The second chapter is even more descriptive, with Bill being similarly killed by Stargut and his group of hooligans as punishment for hurting a deer. The sheriff is the sole authority in the town, and he dispenses justice in strange ways, burning alive all offenders who harm creatures from the forest. However, Bill’s wife Lovey senses something is off, and several years after Bill’s demise, joins hands with Tom, a ‘preacher of sorts’, to take down Stargut and his band of evil creatures wreaking havoc across town.

Pacing is an essential aspect of mystery novels, and this book passes with flying colors. Almost all chapters have at least one significant event, and the mystery is unraveled bit by bit, keeping readers hooked. Also, the characters have detailed and well-thought-out backstories, emphasizing Tom’s character development. Even with Lovey, the second title character, readers can feel her presence strongly throughout the novel. She is mature, devoted, and unwavering in her will to take Stargut down. Only Patty’s character seems a bit dull. After getting trapped under Stargut’s spell, she becomes irrelevant and only emerges to drive the plot forward to the end. However, it is an exciting read filled with monsters and creatures whose descriptions seem inspired. I recommend Tom and Lovey by G. R. Jerry for its consistent pacing and riveting plot.

G R Jerry narrates the attempts of Lovey to uncover the mysteries behind her husband's death (ten years before the beginning of the story). Lovey is sure that Stargut, the town sheriff, is behind it. She does not know, however, what happened exactly. Now, her dead husband has gone silent, and her dear friend, Patty, seems to be under a spell of some sort. Lovey is running out of time, and almost all of the town is involved with Stargut. She will have to trust her weird neighbor, Tom, to solve what is happening. Will they uncover the truth?

The plot of G R Jerry's book is like navigating through a dark forest: you can't see anything aside from what you see in front. As you walk, you can see the tree branches lurking and intertwining, but not the whole picture at once. Throughout the book, Jerry untangles the mysteries behind the strange events, slowly to maintain the wary feeling, but fast enough to keep the reader's attention. The different characters narrate this thrilling story, each with a unique perspective and narrative: first-person and third-person-limited narrators, among others. Each character's previous experiences shape their personality, resulting in three-dimensional and believable people. This book is embedded in the fantasy genre. However, this is just the façade: this fantasy hides a thriller. The underlying story behind the mystical features is terrifying and not recommended for the faint-hearted. If your favorite genres are fantasy and thrillers, this book is definitely for you.
