Touching Death (A Rachel Angeletti Novel Book 1) by Becky Johnson is a wonderful murder mystery with a supernatural twist. Rachel Angeletti has an unusual gift. By touching an object, she has the ability to divine facts about it and the person associated with it. Curator of the Chicago Museum of Anthropology and Archaeology's Ancient Wing, Rachel hosts a gala in honor of the unveiling of her first major exhibit. When she leaves the gala for a moment to escape a painful situation, Rachel discovers a dead body. She turns to Sam Cartwell, the head of security for the museum, for help. Rachel is unsure how to explain how she knows things about the murder without revealing how she comes by the information. Remarkably, Sam seems to understand her and works with her to find the identity of the murderer. The murderer has begun to suspect that Rachel is on to him and the danger begins to accelerate. Before Sam can prevent it, Rachel is the murderer's next target. Now what is she going to do?

Touching Death (A Rachel Angeletti Novel Book 1) by Becky Johnson is an intriguing murder mystery. From the start, I was captivated by Rachel's abilities and the Ancient Egyptian history aspect. Rachel is going through some really difficult situations, but she faces them gallantly. The growth of a character is the sign of a good book. I loved how Rachel works with her insecurities and practices honing her abilities. This is a great murder mystery, and if you like sleuthing mysteries with the touch of the paranormal, then this is a wonderful choice.
