Twins by Don Helin is a chilling military fiction novel that unravels when a member of the little-known Patriot Militia sets on fire a library in the small town of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, wounds a librarian, and kills a sheriff who tries to stop him. Shortly thereafter, Colonel Zack Kelly is summoned to an emergency meeting with the National Security Advisor of the president of the United States where members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police brief them on a terrorist plot by militia groups in the US, with the support of elements of a small French political party. French operatives are also hacking the country's national computer systems to spread disinformation. This string of suspicious events prompted the National Security Advisor to create a talented team headed by Zack Kelly to evaluate the situation. Can they uncover this dangerous plot and stop the militias before it is too late?

Don Helin’s Twins is an action-packed novel that may happen in real life and this is what makes it a gripping read. Set in the present time, it explores the dire consequences of a divided America, and the result is a truly frightening narrative. Making use of his military background, the author obviously knows what he is writing about. The main characters in this novel are well-developed and the plot is impeccably woven together so that it comes across as authentic and believable. Surveillance, spying, and other undercover activities are only some of the plot devices used effectively by the author to come up with this page-turner of a book. Highly recommended!
