Author Biography

Lilac spends all her time writing, or reading, or thinking about writing or reading, often to the detriment of her day job, her family, and the housework. She apologises to her employer and her loved ones, but the house will simply have to deal with it!

She calls Worcester home, though she would prefer to call somewhere hot and sunny home, somewhere with a beach and cocktails and endless opportunities for snoozing in the sun…

When she isn’t hunched over a computer or dreaming about foreign shores, she enjoys creating strange, inedible dishes in the kitchen, accusing her daughter of stealing (sorry – “borrowing”) her clothes, and fighting with her husband over whose turn it is to empty the dishwasher.

Under the Cherry Tree by Lilac Mills is romance at its best. Jenni Meads is a dog groomer and when her dog takes against someone, Jenni should learn to take note. Given the opportunity to buy a smallholding and expand her business, Jenni jumps head first in. She meets a nice man, but there are none of those sparks and fireworks so she decides that she should just concentrate on her business. Another nice man happens along, but he isn’t quite what he seems, as Millie, her adorable dog, tries to tell her. In fact, there is only one man that Millie will accept, but it is only in tragic circumstances that Jenni sees the light, in more ways than one.

Under the Cherry Tree by Lilac Mills is a fantastic story, but do have plenty of tissues to hand because it is a real tear jerker! There is plenty of lightheartedness as well and lots of humor. This is an incredibly well thought out story with a real plot and lots of great characters to get involved with. I have always said that if my dog doesn’t like someone then I shouldn’t either, and this story just goes to prove how right that is! Ms. Mills has a genuinely good way with words here, providing plenty of description and great character development. The book was just the right length for the story with lots of action packed in. I defy anyone to read this story without laughing, cringing, and having a good cry too. Great story, looking forward to more from Lilac Mills.
