Author Biography

The writing duo of Geoff Habiger and Coy Kissee have been life-long friends since high school in Manhattan, Kansas. (Affectionately known as the Little Apple, which was a much better place to grow up than the Big Apple, in our humble opinion.) We love reading, baseball, cats, role-playing games, comics, and board games (not necessarily in that order and sometimes the cats can be very trying). We’ve spent many hours together over the years (and it’s been many years) basically geeking out and talking about our favorite books, authors, and movies, often discussing what we would do differently to fix a story or make a better script. We also loved playing games, generally role-playing games, but also board games and card games, and would spend hours talking about why a particular game was fun or not, and what made the games fun to play.

Coy lives with his wife in Lenexa, Kansas. Geoff lives with his wife and son in Tijeras, New Mexico. They are currently working on sequels to both Unremarkable (called Untouchable) and Wrath of the Fury Blade (called Joy of the Widows Tears).

Trying to protect his family from the two most notorious gangsters of the twentieth century, a young postal worker is unwittingly caught in the rivalry between Bugsy Moran and Al Capone, in the intense and thrilling supernatural novel Unremarkable by Geoff Habiger and Coy Kissee. Saul's life is better than it has ever been. All in the space of a few weeks, Saul moved out of his parents' home, rented his own apartment, got a good job at the post office, and is dating a glamorous woman. Unexpectedly, most of his newfound security vanishes in one horrifying moment while he and his girlfriend, Moira, are strolling down a Chicago street. They are caught in the crossfire of the Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, leaving Moira dead at the scene. Shocked and guilt-ridden, Saul returns home to find thugs waiting for him, and they aren't the only ones threatening his survival. It seems as if everyone nefarious in the city wants something from Saul, and no matter which one he chooses to accommodate, the outcome will be the same. His life has now departed from the sane and rational, and Saul is caught in a deadly game of tug-of-war where his family's safety is the ransom, and there is no way out.

Unremarkable by Geoff Habiger and Coy Kissee is a brilliant and chilling supernatural adventure set in the wintry streets of nineteen-twenties Chicago. With a thrilling plot filled with suspense, and a hint of horror wafting beneath the surface of the story line, it is impossible to put the book down once you begin to read it. The historical personages of Bugsy Moran and Al Capone are intriguing additions to the story, and the ferocity and depth of their characters are portrayed in a realistic manner. I loved every aspect of this riveting novel and recommend it to those who enjoy suspense-filled stories enhanced with supernatural nuances. If you relish books with creatures of the night, then you will not want to miss this one! It is intensely satisfying!
