Untangle My Heart by Melissa A. Smith is a contemporary romance about what happens when a mix-up occurs. The story begins with some much needed backstory: two men, Brady and Dean, order identical Christmas lockets for their girlfriends, Heather and Hana, with two completely unique messages inscribed inside. But the store makes a mistake and delivers the opposite locket to each romantic pair. The story looks at what happens after this mix-up and how each pair reacts to the wrong message on their gift. Both relationships are put to the test as questions are asked, feelings are hurt, and answers are found. Ultimately, the pairs decide to break up and move on in their respective lives, discovering that their bonds maybe were never as strong as they originally believed. But that doesn't mean that hope is lost. There still might be some love hiding around the corner for two of the characters.

This was a really sweet story that took an interesting premise and asked a lot of questions. What would happen if you got the wrong message? Would you be upset? Would you trust your boyfriend? Is it worth breaking up over? This story follows these fictional characters on that journey, but at the same time it didn't feel like a story because the characters were so well written and authentic. I think readers will really fall in love with these characters as they go on this journey full of questions and misunderstandings.
