Author Biography

John Dorsey III (Jay) was born and raised in Eau Claire, WI - finally settling in Minneapolis, MN. He is a graphic designer whose first real trip to Canada was in 2010.
Writing the book was an exercise in putting down everything I had learned before my first trip (so I wouldn't look stupid) and further research to complete a well rounded book. I hope you enjoy.

Justin Bieber, Robin Thicke, Jim Carrey, Michael J. Fox, Drake, Celine Dion, Donald Sutherland, and Rick Fox have a few things in common; not only are they a part of the music and entertainment industry, but they are all Canadians. Visiting and Understanding Canada for Yankees by John Dorsey III is a very informative guide for anyone who has an interest in understanding Canada better. In this guide, he talks about everything pertaining to Canada from sports (i.e. Hockey and Lacrosse), terms (i.e. grade 3 instead of American version of 3rd grade) and those Canadians who are in the music and entertainment industry to the political system. To further help you feel at home, Dorsey even provides some simple French lessons so that you can communicate with some of the natives.

Visiting and Understanding Canada for Yankees by John Dorsey III was an ideal choice for me at this time because I love Canada; it is such a beautiful place. I plan to visit there again soon and this tool was extremely helpful for me because it is packed with so much useful information. On my next trip, I plan to explore the beauty of Canada a little more and take in the essence of the provinces, from Quebec (where French is primarily spoken) and Ontario to British Columbia. Canada is a place that has so much diversity, nature and culture and I wish to experience it all. Dorsey did a great job in providing a snapshot of everything pertaining to Canada so that I know what to expect and will be more prepared for my next visit.
