Visiting Darkness is a murder mystery horror novel written by Celeste Prater. After a seemingly innocuous woman goes on a shocking killing spree at a supermarket, Senior Detective Maxwell Browning spearheads the investigation. But complicating the case is a series of similar murders spread across the city. When Max receives a tip from a young man named Preston Sinclair, it leads him to a vital clue that may provide a key link between the murders. Soon, Max and Preston form a burgeoning bond as Preston reveals his own experience of the tragic story of a family member who became a murderer seemingly out of nowhere. However, after one of the murderers commits suicide, their investigation takes an even more sinister twist as both Max and Preston are embroiled in something that may be far beyond their grasp.

An enthralling mix of murder mystery thriller and paranormal horror, Visiting Darkness captivates you from start to finish. This is one of those sleuth stories that draw readers in with a strong premise and keep them engaged with unexpected twists and turns as the pages are turned. Author Celeste Prater keeps a brisk pace, moving the plot along with a smooth narrative that is a breeze to read. The characters feel well-fleshed out as Prater masterfully captures their psyche, giving them well-defined motives and traits that justify their actions. Max and Preston are the two main protagonists driving the narrative, and I thoroughly enjoyed their dynamic. Visiting Darkness is a must-read for thriller and horror fans alike.
