Walk With Hanna: Baby Steps by Arina Az is the story of little Hanna as she learns that things might not be replaced, but there is always a place for some other special thing in our hearts. Baby Hanna was born a month early, but her parents were happy to have her. She is small with pretty eyes that shine like stars, but she keeps her right hand closed in a fist. When her grandmother brings her a red Raya flower, she opens her right palm and keeps it here. However, one day the flower tears and Hanna doesn’t want anything else. Her parents take her to a garden for her to choose any other flower, but Hanna just wants the Raya flower her grandmother gave her. Will Hanna find a replacement for the flower? Or will she keep her fist closed?

Walk With Hanna: Baby Steps is such a beautiful, encouraging, and incredible little book with pictures that will make reading a whole sensory experience for a little one and their parents. The prose is easy to read, the lullaby is beautiful and the story itself is very interesting. The little guide about flowers at the end leaves room for little ones to explore flowers and get familiar with nature. The fact that it is so well-written makes the book entertaining for parents as well. Hanna’s little fist and the reasoning behind her not opening it was so beautiful. The search for a new flower will keep children entertained and enjoying the gorgeous pictures. Author Arina Az provides the words and illustrator Joseph Ong brings the story to life in the most wonderfully vivid way. Children will love this!

Walk With Hanna: Baby Steps is a story for very young children, written and presented in the form of a picture book. It was penned by author Arina Az with illustrations by artist Joseph Ong. The story centers on titular character Hanna, a young child who has a favorite red Raya flower, given to her by her grandmother. But when one of the petals becomes torn, Hanna’s happiness fades, and she must seek out a new favorite. So begins an inquisitive and educational journey that will be a colorful and magical adventure for parents and guardians to read to their young children.

Author Arina Az has crafted a delicate and beautiful tale that is sure to be shared time and again with young children as they explore the colorful world around them, learning about family bonds, colors, nature, and crafts. I loved the fact that there were instructions in the back of the book to make a flower-styled craft like the one in the book so that readers can feel even more connected to the tale. The illustrations by artist Joseph Ong were a particular highlight for me as they are an unusual and sophisticated style for a children’s book, which will surely bring as much visual joy to the adult reader as it does to the child. Overall, Walk With Hanna: Baby Steps is a charming storybook that delivers on everything it promises. A highly recommended read for quality bonding time between families.
