Walkin’ With God Ain’t For Wimps by Karen O’Connor is a devotional book. The book is divided into 13 sections and each section into chapters. The devotions are filled with bits of humor that will bring a smile to your face. The cover reminded me of a trip my husband and I took a few years ago. We were hiking and ended up on the wrong trail. That happens in life; sometimes we end up on the wrong trail, but God is always there to lead us back to the right path. Each story is accompanied with a Bible verse and prayer. I found that I could readily relate to most, if not all, of the stories.

When I read the first selection, I knew this book was written for me. Even though I have the best of intentions concerning a morning devotional, many times I become distracted in much the same way as the person in the story. I suddenly realize that I have wasted the precious moments I had planned to spend alone with the Lord. However, as Ms. O’Connor reminds us, He is always listening, and we can pray at any time; our prayers should be constant. Each story brings a message that I needed to hear. Walkin’ With God Ain’t For Wimps is a delightful book that all will enjoy.

Karen O'Connor has done it again, showing that "gray power" can also be humor power. She spins fun stories with gentle spiritual reminders. My fav chapters were "Frazzled" and "Tea-Totaler." If you need encouragement that growin' old isn't all about the negatives, get this book. Consider buying it for a birthday gift, too, for another person who could use some golden cheer.
