Wedded to the Warlord by Sirena Knighton commences with Mallika being blackmailed by the Crown Prince of Sunvaara. She must accept an arranged marriage or her brother Dev will suffer. Tristan, the Baron of Borviel, is just as reluctant to marry a stranger, but he is a thoroughly honorable man. Over time, Tristan and Mallika develop feelings for each other. Despite loving her husband, Mallika cannot relax. She knows she is still being used as a pawn in the prince’s conspiracy. When orders arrive, she is required to perform an unthinkable act of betrayal. Can Mallika find a better option without risking the life of her brother?

Wedded to the Warlord by Sirena Knight combined romance and intrigue in a complex fantasy setting. I was fascinated by the shifting politics of the provinces and was eager to uncover the Crown Prince’s treacherous plan. Mallika’s powerlessness and the fact she was trapped in an impossible dilemma drew my sympathy. My heart was warmed by the growing bond between Mallika and Tristan and I longed for them to resolve their problems. I was also impressed that the partners managed to learn each other’s language and overcome cultural differences to understand each other. I saw parallels between Mallika's brother and her husband and longed to see these two characters meet. The battles toward the end were fast-moving and exciting, with the key characters playing pivotal roles. If you enjoy fantasy romance, with a medium heat level and enough danger to make the pulse race, this book will interest you.
