Want to learn information on how to best interact with and relate to your new little one? D.A. Batrowny brings you a wonderfully illustrated tale that does just that (without turning into a factual overload that knocks you upside the head). There are two sections in the first book in The Artt Of Learning series, Welcome Smart Artt. Section one is a cute story about the hospital staff looking for Smart Artt and discovering his inventions; section two is a “book” Smart Artt wrote for his parents, detailing in rhyme how to best care for him. Section one is geared toward sharing with your child; section two gives advice to you as the parent (though older children could benefit from reading this part as well… really, any caregiver to your child could find this useful).

I thought section one of D.A. Batrowny’s book, Welcome Smart Artt, was amusing and fun. It is something I could read to my two-year-old (we could enjoy looking for and finding Smart Artt together). That being said, my favorite part was section two. I enjoy rhyming schemes and the sentences rhymed beautifully with each other. And best of all, they conveyed useful information on ways to help and interact with my seven-week-old baby. I appreciate learning things and cannot express enough how much I enjoyed the style of Welcome Smart Artt. Finally! An easy and interesting way to learn about your child’s needs. Thank you D.A. Batrowny! I hope to read more of your work in the future. People out there: this book would make a good baby shower gift!

Smart Artt is here to show you how smart and wonderful babies really are! This fantastic book is a both a cute story book and a great guide for parents. It explains in poetry all the ways you can love your new baby and help him or her grow. I would highly recommend this book as a gift to any new parent.

This wonderful story is more than a story, it is an instructional guide for parents. Both within the story itself and in the introduction and concluding note, this helps parents to understand ways that they can benefit their babies in their early developmental stages. Something I've long believed as a parent is that many of us truly underestimate our infant's ability to learn and comprehend and to have a staggering intellectual potential. This is why it is so important to read, sing, and talk to our children in grown-up language from infancy. This truth is emphasized by the author in this book as well as on her website. She is definitely qualified to write on this subject, having spent many professional years helping parents and children to grow in their developmental processes. This book is about a youngster named Artt and his adventures around a nursery, in which he designs a book for his father about how to help him develop. Even though this book is rich in meaning for parents, it is still very much a children's book. Your child(ren) will love reading it with you and will surely grasp its message of how smart they really are and how much potential for growth they really have if they are aided in the right way. The illustrations are perfect and are no doubt instrumental in helping children with this story as well. This book is part of a series.

An excellent gift for any new parent! This is a very easy to understand and informative book for the parent of a new child. With classic illustrations that are sure to stand the test of time, I can see this book being handed down to each successive generation in the family. This is the kind of book that is helpful for parents and will be enjoyable for the children in the family.

Absolutely LOVED this cute little book suitable for both parents and kids. A perfect companion for new parents. My daughter is expecting her second child in 4 weeks so this will be so cute for her to read with her daughter and the baby. Great information for new parents who may need some guidance or reminders about the developmental stages for new babies. Highly recommend

Just finished this fun book, and, as the book's description promises, I've already fallen in love with little baby Smart Artt! In fact, I love the whole concept of a series of simple, informative books to help out new parents, written in a form that they can read out and show to their young babies.
The book has bold, simple illustrations throughout, and is largely written as a "book within a book", which has simple, repetitive, rhyming patterns - helpful for soothing young children, and for teaching them about important speech patterns.

New parents can easily be overwhelmed by great, lengthy volumes of helpful advice, all of which they can never possibly hope to remember. Along with all the other requirements of parenthood, it is easy to see why the very early educational development of little ones may seem less of a priority to new parents when placed alongside all the many things they need to remember simply to keep their child safe and healthy.

This book, however, introduces lots of helpful advice, but in an easy-to-digest manner, which is also very memorable. The fact that a new parent can easily read the book out while holding and rocking their newborn child makes it even more valuable. It doesn't matter what they had time to read before the big arrival, this book is a great start that they can make to help educate both themselves and their child after the birth.

Would make a great gift for any new mother or father, and a handsome print book to add as a gift for baby shower events.

A great, fun, slug-tastic book to aid new parents and help their little slugs growth in the formative years. Smart Artt is a fun-looking baby that will appeal to, help and encourage all in getting the wee sprogs yapping away. With great illustrations and clearly devised structure this is a must-have book.

Simple story and cute illustrations are perfect for new parents! Great information here: basic guidance to understand and enhance baby's development. These suggestions would seem natural, but are well worth repeating, spend time with your baby, talking, singing, playing, holding..

Informative for parents, but kids will love it too. This is a very unique book where there are two stories in one. It flows together for both parent and child to enjoy.
Children will giggle looking at the pictures of a clever newborn named, Smart Artt, crawling around while hearing a parent's voice read the words.
It's a brilliant way to encourage and reassure your child that they are loved. This book has all the words a parent needs to aid them to take notice and be aware of normal development in their early stages.
