When the Universe Called by Maggie Denhearn is a story filled with mystery that explores the innate power of intuition, of manifestation. Follow one woman’s journey as she inspires and teaches others to tap into the energy of the universe available to them, and to use it to fight evil and to steer their lives towards the end they desire. In this narrative, Brina, a mysterious local coffee-shop owner has a unique ability — she has the gift of knowing the thoughts of others. Follow her as she guides five other women from Vancouver Island to master the power of the inner self and to use it to change the reality around them. But is this real or pure fiction?

Maggie Denhearn uses concepts from the law of attraction to create an inspirational story that leaves readers awed and inspired. After reading this novel, you will feel like you can desire anything and make it happen. The writing is wonderful and filled with words that are packed with power. The characters are ordinary people who journey towards self-discovery, characters who learn to understand that they have incredible power within them. The prose is crisp and filled with vivid descriptions and thought-provoking dialogues.

The opening is intriguing and I was hooked from the start, at the mix of the tragic and the humorous in the way the opening scene begins: “Anja saw Frost’s gun pointing directly at her, a cigarette dangling casually between the index and middle fingers of his free hand. She had always wondered why he smoked with his left hand when he was right-handed. Now she knew why.” When the Universe Called is an engrossing read with a lot of enlightenment for readers, a novel featuring characters that are skillfully developed, powerful themes, and a plot that is as exciting as it is filled with adventure.
