Will is 13 and has Bardet-Biedl syndrome, and he knows he does not have much time left to see because the retinal degeneration will eventually make him blind. Will It: The Gnat & Corky Series by Courtney Kotloski is about Will's perception of life which is unique, different, and positive in which he encourages and motivates young readers to get going in life, try out new things, surprise themselves, and be brave. As the author aptly puts it: 'The Earth was made for us to live on it. So, I say - what are you waiting for?' Readers will think, 'what's the worst that could happen?' when they end up challenging themselves by trying out new things.

The book has a beautiful message for young readers and it will give them the confidence to try out things they otherwise would not be comfortable doing. The illustrations by Natalie Sorrentino make the concept tangible to readers, and the color, liveliness, and movement make the story appealing. Many times children hold back from doing something because of the fear of not being able to do it properly. This book will erase all the doubts they have and make them confident and bold to be brave and get going.

This is a perfect book for tutors and educators to use in their storytelling and read aloud sessions in classrooms and school libraries because of its message. The entire Gnat & Corky Series is good to have in a personal collection at home because of the insightful and positive messages that will enable children to look at things with courage.
