What do giant tomatoes and fast-growing mushrooms have in common? They are two of the amazing things that try to take over the imaginary town of Willakaville in this amusing, entertaining and creative children's book. Mathew Heinecke has created a collection of Tall Tales in Willakaville: Amazing Adventures of Astronomical Awesomeness that tickle the imagination and provide some subtle lessons about trust, friendship, honesty and more. In an otherwise normal town, Billy, Charley, Jimmy, Shirley and many other townspeople encounter strangers with magical powers, talking animals and miracle food items like mayonnaise and mustard. Something grows out of control and it is only after someone has an ‘Ah ha’ moment and takes a stand that things return to normal.

Willakaville: Amazing Adventures of Astronomical Awesomeness by Mathew Heinecke invites the young reader into a wacky world where common sense, following the rules, and using your imagination help you achieve great things. With a little help from magical pencils, powders and potions, the characters learn important lessons and are surprised to find that strength, honesty, friendship and determination can overcome almost anything. Each section of the story is independent so the book is easy to read, even if it is put down for a period of time - but the humor and sheer craziness of the town’s adventures quickly bring you back for more. In a cross between the stories of Paul Bunyan and the magical message of fairy tales, Willakaville is the setting for strange and wonderful events. And the best part is that the kids of the town are the heroes who solve the problems.
