Author Biography

Maximilian grew up farming in the picturesque countryside, often fishing or sketching at creekside, while enjoying the company of wolverines, moose, beavers, osprey and the occasional grizzly. As a young man you could just as easily find him jamming with his band as see him on the rugby field.

Max's education took him through music school, composing hundreds of songs and then a fulfilling career as a large enterprise project manager. He was always a prolific storyteller and his fondest memories are of those telling stories to his children while snuggled in bed and making the characters come to life with his many animated voices.

Max created the world of Raimiar, as a means to give adults and young adults alike, a fresh and interesting place to escape to. He has enjoyed reading classic and popular epic fantasy but has never yet read the book he wanted to read. Wolf’s Run is it, but it only scratches the surface of just how magical and fantastic things might get. Although you will relate to the characters and see aspects of yourself in them as the series expands, this is first and foremost, escapism. If you ever wished you were as imposing and capable as Elena Delle Donne of the WNBA or as perfectly chiseled as model Darrell Holloman, the Unifier series will spark your imagination so that you might imagine yourself as someone like them for a while, or at least enjoy their company for a time.

“What I can tell you is that things that haven’t been spoken of for lifetimes are now being whispered around tavern tables, and people are looking for answers – finding ways to make sense of our ever-changing world.” A young man named Wolf saves a noblewoman's life while out hunting in the woods. He mysteriously gets injured in the process as his peaceful life takes a different turn. A lord's arrival in his village leads to a terrible incident that forces Wolf and his friend Crow to flee their home with guardsmen hot on their heels. A strange female warrior becomes their savior and provides some answers to Wolf's peculiar predicament. The world is indeed changing, where a dark force from the ancient texts is making a return to the land. Wolf's Run is the first book of The Unifier Series by Maximilian Becker.

It took me a while to familiarize myself with the intricate but fascinating world-building of Wolf's Run. With an engaging premise and clear prose, the story also has interesting and different timelines, particularly in the beginning chapters which link certain past events to the present. The plot is steadily paced and there's quite a significant number of characters as well as substantially intense fight scenes. Wolf's story development is definitely intriguing but I gravitated more towards Locrian, an Eight elite warrior from Pythagor, and her 'ceraton' Ja’Rayne. All in all, this is an impressive start for The Unifier Series by Maximilian Becker that caters to YA and adult readers who love a fantasy story with an original concept. I look forward to reading the second installment.
