Author Biography

My family spent nearly 30 years on the Far Side of the World. "Mammaries" relates some of the bizarre, wonderful, deeply troubling, and scary moments of those years. The stories are all true and my readers tell me that in order to read them two things are required: hankies and Depends! Wondahful Mammaries by Peggy Keener is the story of how a mother takes charge of her life and takes her children on an adventure that is heartbreaking, humorous and endearing all at once. This book is a roller coaster ride that you never want to get off. This book is amazing. From the sweeping scenic descriptions to the heart breaking feelings of a mother, this book is a gem that you will not want to put down.

The story follows Peggy and her three children who go on an “odyssey” while Peggy’s husband is serving another 12 months in Vietnam. The family encounters good times, bad times, worse times, and times when they are the happiest they have ever been. Be prepared to be weepy one second and laughing your head off the next because the way it is written is very, very powerful and intense, maybe because it is written from the heart.

You cannot ask for a better written book. It has emotion, reality, fun, love, and most of all, it is very entertaining. This is one of those books that you keep forever. It is intense, but at the same time this book is very light. Be prepared for an all nighter because you are not putting this book down until you are finished with it. One thing that I would commend the author on is the way she described things with all her heart. Whether it was her emotions or her surroundings, she gave it her all and made sure that you will remember her book (and her) wherever you go.
