Matt gets a bucket of water from the ocean to use as he builds a sandcastle, but he doesn’t expect the water to start talking to him! Using his imagination, Matt travels into the ocean with his new friend, Water, who shares what it’s like to live in the ocean and how it can be tough to live there because of the harm that is sometimes caused to the environment. Matt and Water have some great discussions and a fun adventure, but before Matt knows it, he’s back on the beach with his mom. His imagination took him on a journey he wasn’t expecting! You Talkin’ To Me? by Sara Burns is such a fun book that children are sure to enjoy.

From first seeing the cover of You Talkin’ To Me?, I knew I was going to fall in love with it. The illustrations bring to life the adventures of the ocean so vibrantly, while the dialogue and characters share some educational knowledge that is important for children to learn at a young age. Both Matt and Water were wonderful characters, and I enjoyed following them around the ocean floor as they met different creatures, talked about how to make the earth a better place, and more. This book made me smile, and I learned some new things while reading it. I would recommend this story by Sara Burns to all families with young children; this is a book that can be read over and over again, and it provides a great learning opportunity!
