Your Body Book by Doranne Long is a handy guide to help you control pain in certain areas of your body and, in some cases, help you regain the full range of motion throughout your body. Doranne begins the book with a head to toe scan of every portion of your body and its joints, illustrating how these areas can have issues involving a limited range of motion and subsequent pain. She gives suggestions for stretching and restoring motion in a number of these sections as well. Next, she discusses particular problems and issues that you might come across, and the causes and possible solutions for recovery. Third, Doranne discusses particular health habits including hydration, nutrition, sleeping, posture, balance, flexibility and many more circumstances and actions which can contribute to pain, inflammation, loss of motion, and the correction of those problems when practiced correctly. Finally, she wraps up with exercises that can help restore motion, stretch muscles or strengthen particularly troublesome areas. The wealth of information found within this book will arm you with the necessary information to help relieve many of the symptoms from which you suffer and/or arm you for a more intelligent conversation with a healthcare provider.

As a back and neck pain sufferer, I was excited to get my hands on Doranne Long’s Your Body Book and have a chance to discover additional techniques and therapies for helping to alleviate some of my pain. The stretching and motion exercises, along with making me concentrate further on my posture, were particularly helpful in my situation. Additionally, the hydration, nutrition and sleeping suggestions seem to be helping me as well. In many ways, what Doranne has done is make me more aware of some of the habits that I actually didn’t connect with my pain. This book is simple, direct and easy to use. If you are suffering from pain, Your Body Book will likely be the answer that you’ve been looking for in order to guide yourself back to optimum health.

As I aged it became more and more difficult to exercise, stay flexible and maintain balance. I am now 84 and was fortunate to discover Doranne Long's "Your Body Book" at my doctors office. It became obvious as I followed the instructions and did the exercises I was on track for a stronger and more flexible old age.I find my balance improved and the bonus of feeling more alive each day. Thanks go to Doranne for a commitment to an all round better body.

This book says it all for a head-to-toe handbook. It will help you identify your problem by reading the Table of Contents. The spiral binding will let you easily turn to the page. I know the author from her hands on physical therapy applications with me. It did work. I’m so glad to have Doranne Long’s reference book to keep me moving.

I am very impressed. I really like the thoroughness, as well as the design and layout. I also like the simplicity of your guidance, even though I know these are complex issues. You have an ability to help people understand medical conditions and how to successfully treat these issues.

As a 40 year experienced Physical Therapist I found the book very knowledgeable and informative. It is also a very easily understood book for a layman. I would bring it to patient's homes to review and they all wanted to buy one.

Your Body Book

I think Your Body Book is very well done. Easy to read, great information and diagrams. Sometimes you get books that have way to much information and you feel overwhelmed and don't know where to start. Doranne gives you the solutions to your problems in one easy step. I have suffered with a back problem for years because of an injury.
Ican go to her book and find simple exercises and tips that keep me out of the Physical Therapy department and they work!I have a class of high school students and Doranne has come and talked to the students and shared her book with us. You would'nt think about students needing Physical Therapy but so many students are in sports. They all seem to have aches and pains. She gives them great information and tips on how to prevent injuries. I work at a hospital and next door is the Physical Therapy department and I see many students come in with injuries. Prevention is the key to a healhty lifestyle.Thank you Doranne for all you do and writing a terrific book. This book reminds me of Strunk & White's "Elements of Style" -- it is short, simple, well-organized, filled with real-life helps for reducing pain and maintaining or restoring wellness, and assumes you are capable of acting on the right information. The author helps us understand how a problem develops and how things like posture, over-use, or under-use worsen the problem. Employing the right exercise, therapy, or treatment is simple, given the readability and organization of the book. On all accounts, it is a book every body can use.

I received this book over a year ago. Fortunately I have had no body pain in this past year so I never needed to refer to the book. But this past week I was in terrible pain. I could not sleep, nothing felt comfortable. I easily flipped through the book to the chapter on where I was feeling discomfort and YES! There was several suggestions. I tried some of the recommendations and the next morning, NO PAIN! Thank you Doranne for the simple easy to read directions and more importantly; to my life free from pain.

Nancy

I love your book. It is an excellent reference book for when pain persists. I loaned it to my neighbor when she had excruciating back pain. She said the exercises in the book really helped.

Kathleen

What a great resource....I love it. Been awhile since I opened it. So simple and to the point!!

Sandy Brierty

If you have ever experienced pain, you will want to get your hands on this book. Doranne is the master of understanding human body mechanics and her "text" book is a must to own. The simple exercises are easy to follow.

Your Body Book by Doranne Long, I found informative yet easy to comprehend. I have started to utilize some of her techniques recommended and have already felt relief. Prior to reading the book, I was unsure of when to apply hot/cold. Now I understand when to apply each and why. I definitely recommend this book. It's a book that people can benefit from whether you are in pain or to prevent pain.
