You’re Not a Caveman, Don’t Eat Like One by Jennifer Swallow RD is a guide to enable people to make choices based on preferences, desires, or health and not based on misinformation or myths. Jennifer attacks the first myth by asking, ‘We are not cavemen, why eat like one?’ This and other questions of our diet are examined from many angles. Such as, which is better for weight control, a low carb diet or a low fat diet? What is the Paleo diet and how does it contribute to good health? What are the health benefits of the Masai diet of East Africa? What differences are there between animal protein and plant protein? Jennifer concludes by proposing a new ‘anti-caveman diet’ and a fourteen-day meal plan.

You’re Not a Caveman, Don’t Eat Like One by Jennifer Swallow RD is written with ‘Doubting Thomases’ in mind. No opinion, affirmation or conclusion is made in this book without showing a bona fide source. Helpful information on many topics, like the FAQs on How Plant Eaters Can Avoid Nutrient Deficiency, enhances its value as a reference book too. This book is replete with useful information in the form of suggested diets, informative charts and quick tips. This is a very good book, a thorough document examining the vast area of healthy food and diet, particularly through the eyes of modern man. The diet proposals contained here should be easily adaptable to present times.
