How to Use the Media in Selling Your Books

This is the best time to be a writer. You can finish your book faster than before. You can self-publish your books for free. And another great thing is you can use the media in selling your books, free of charge too. Plus the potential of increased books sales is extremely high. Here are some tips on how to use the media in selling your books.

Use it to connect you to as many people as you can. Social media is a wonderful tool to meet other people. But what is more exciting is that it has the ability to connect you to thousands and even to hundreds of thousands of people you do not know. How? Imagine this. If through a social network you have 100 contacts (that’s a very small number) and each contact let’s say also has 100 contacts (again, this is almost next to impossible). You have 100,000 possible connections at the tip of your fingers, without you even uttering a single word to them. And this is a very conservative estimate. You could picture the vastness of possible connections that the media can offer. Use it to your advantage.

Use it to reveal your great thoughts and great personality; in short, be yourself. With social media, you could not be a total recluse. Even if you don’t have an account, your pictures could still show up in some people’s account. Even if you don’t say anything, other people can say something about your work and even about you. It would be to your advantage to just follow the old adage of “if you can’t beat them, join them.” Use social media to your advantage. You can show them some side of you that they are not aware of. Show them the human side of a writer. A lot of people picture writers as hermits totally disconnected to the world. Show them that you are also a person who loves nature or art, who also gets irritated with traffic and noise, who falls in and out of love. And when people can relate to you, they would be more open to your products. They would be more supportive because after all, you are just a human being just like them. Not some kind of an alien.

Use it as an effective marketing tool. Social media can be anything so why not make it a platform for advertisement…your book at that. People can get lost browsing through thousands of books waiting to be bought and read. Don’t let your book suffer the same consequences. Let your book be known through the use of social media. Promote it. Discuss the worth of your book. Place a beautiful line from the book that could attract the attention and desire of buyers to acquire it. Create a mini-contest and let your book be the prize. Create a buzz. It could mean more book sales for you.
