Although life can often be a wonderful journey of learning and amazing experiences, it can sometimes feel like an endless struggle. So, how can we remain resilient during these challenging times and manage to see the bigger picture? Using personal and biblical stories, discover how one family realized that through their faith and expression of gratitude they were able to learn valuable lessons from tragic events. Follow one remarkable woman's journey as she faced the loss of two young children, a husband battling kidney disease and colon cancer and another son with bi-polar. Although many people would crumble under the stress, she found solace in the belief that there were lessons to be learned that would ultimately strengthen her spiritually. Everyone is affected by challenges, bereavement, and heartache at one time or another, but what you choose to focus on can subsequently empower you in ways you never thought possible.

A Thirst for the Infinite by Judy Lloyd is an exceptionally heartfelt account that touched me emotionally. Although there are many books on the subject of bereavement and coping with life's challenges, this book delves deeper into the human mindset. The personal accounts, especially the chapters covering losing her children, were heartbreaking to read because they were written so eloquently and summarized so much emotion in a few well-chosen words. I thought the statement that doubt and fear cannot reside in the mind at the same time as faith was very powerful. The chapter dealing with the refiner's fire regarding how we decide to deal with challenges was also extremely thought-provoking. The explanation into the toxic shame and guilt we feel and why this is detrimental was fascinating. It was also very humbling to me that she found gratitude in events that most of us would ignore, but it is something that we can all learn from. I think anyone who is facing challenging times will gain so much warmth and encouragement from reading A Thirst for the Infinite by Judy Lloyd. You will definitely have a remarkable change of perspective the next time you have to face adversity.

A Thirst for the Infinite is a work of non-fiction in the inspirational journey genre and was penned by author Judy Lloyd. In a work that is highly personal to the author, the experience of a single family and the many tragedies it has faced gives a sense of purpose and spiritual enlightenment to this ideological approach to life. Focusing especially on the roles of both patient and caregiver in relation to chronic illness, the guide seeks to give guidance on building strong relationships in times of need, and the kind of help which is ‘truly helpful’ when life becomes difficult and circumstances are adverse.

Author Judy Lloyd is candid and expressive when relating her own’s life journey, which is a heartbreaking tale of loss and tragedy, but also a beacon of hope for progress and acceptance. But more than just writing the tale autobiographically, Lloyd has turned those experiences into spiritual and philosophical mantras and taken what life has taught her as a means to teach others who may face what she has faced. Highly recommended for families who have chronically ill children and those who care for family members with mental and/or long term physical ailments, the lessons within this book are sensitively narrated and genuinely helpful. Lloyd expresses the emotional needs of patients in a really effective and respectful way, whilst also giving caregivers the support and reassurance they may need. Overall, A Thirst for the Infinite is an excellent and uplifting perspective on the difficulties of life.

A Thirst for the Infinite by Judy Lloyd is an inspirational non-fiction book that educates readers on the values of family, courage, and love. The journey Judy Lloyd takes us on is one that continues to reside within as she brings to life her very own memories of all four of her children, and what mountains and valleys they lived through, each having their own specific path. One of my favorite quotes about her first born son Roger is on page 42: “Early on it appeared that Roger had made the decision to be happy. His smile was infectious, his humor unbridled and his love unconditional.”

Judy Lloyd’s A Thirst for the Infinite crashed into me at full force. There were many times that I broke down and wept. Reading about the strength of her and her family, one would be hard-pressed not to feel every word on the page as though it were happening to you. As a believer in God, but one who is not well versed in scripture, I gleaned a lot from some of her selected scriptures. There were stories I had never heard all the way through that at times shocked me, but in a good way - in a way that left me feeling more educated and understanding. Judy Lloyd’s A Thirst for the Infinite is a book that should be shared with everyone, but especially those that might be going through hardship in life. I feel that this book helped me a lot and it could help anyone who reads it.
