The characters are well developed, giving form to the wonderfully written Alice's War by William McClain. Many books have been written about the Second World War, but the unique perspective captured by this book is marvelous; it gives a view of the impact of the war and the opinions of the civilian population. I loved the flawless flow of the plotline, which left no room for reader confusion, and the easy-to-understand language used by William as the story unfolded. The vivid descriptions of events and emotions made reading this book entertaining and realistic. Another admirable quality of the book is the espoused theme of tolerance. I can't wait to read something else by this talented author.
