Chandler spends his summer vacation in Wisp, Maryland. While walking in the local forest, Chandler meets a deer, a chipmunk, a skunk, and a bear. Surprised and excited to see all of them at once, Chandler is ready to make new friends. Chandler wants to learn more about the forest and its inhabitants. The animals agree to accompany Chandler on his trip deeper into the forest. The boy notices how special each of his friends is. However, the exploration of the forest can be tricky and dangerous. Chandler must rely on his newly found animal friends and their abilities on this fascinating expedition. All At Once I See by Shani T. Night is a compelling children's book for readers from six years of age and up.

Deeply metaphorical and profusely eloquent, All At Once I See takes young readers on a wonderful journey. Shani T. Night encourages children to see hidden meanings behind well-known definitions, like a bear representing leadership and inner strength, and helps develop their figurative thinking. Chandler is a very lovable character. Something unfamiliar does not intimidate him. Chandler's example shows young readers what skills they need to develop to face life issues without fear. In All At Once I See, children will learn how to respect nature in all its amazing diversity. The author explains to young readers the importance of friendship and inspires them to be as open-hearted as Chandler is. Finally, the vibrant illustrations will help enhance the young reader's attentiveness to details. I highly recommend this engaging book to readers of any age.
