Harper Leigh is an editor for the online magazine, Chatter, and she is swimming in tens of thousands of dollars in student loans. Tasked with following rock band Always Rayne on tour, Harper is close to quitting - thanks to the antics of delicious bad boy and front man Nic Rayne. But when Nic offers to pay off her debts if she makes it through the tour, things in Always Rayne get really interesting. Sierra Avalon has done a brilliant job of recreating the rock star love story and making it work. Nic is gorgeous and arrogant in typical rock star fashion, but he is also intelligent and hiding it to maintain his image. That unique twist made his character more human.

There was so much to love about Always Rayne, but mostly it was all Nic. He wants Harper and not just for one night, but poor clueless Harper simply doesn’t get it, which makes her so endearing. She isn’t playing coy in hopes of snagging the rock star, but rather it is a combination of social ineptitude and disbelief that a celebrity could want her. Sierra Avalon has made the rock star romance appealing again and, instead of giving us a ton of angsty characters bemoaning their looks and success, she gives us a quirky heroine, a multi-layered hero and a fun cast of supporting characters that contributed to the humor and witty dialogue in the story. There is much more to Harper and Nic than what you see on the surface and that makes them not just likeable, but lovable.
